Personal Project #1 — Japanese Culture Site

This project started as a blogging site project done for class. Our goal was to create a site centered around a theme, and after my quarter abroad in Japan, I was inspired to start a Japanese culture and travel site for this project.

I have since used this concept as a way to regularly hone my skills over the years, revisiting the blog and expanding it with newly acquired skills, knowledge, and expertise.

This is version 3 of the travel site. Inspired by portfolio sites that mainly used typography to impact their designs, I wanted to explore how typography could change the look and feel of my layout. My goal was to maintain a professional look and to have the design be comfortable and approachable. Negative space has been increased to allow viewers more room to breathe, making this an overall improvement over previous iterations.

This is version 2 of the blog. The idea has been expanded into a travel site where visitors can obtain more information prior to a trip.

This is version 1 of the blog. I started as a simple blogging site project for class as practice for HTML and CSS.
